Install M5wallet
M5wallet runs as a browser extension, a desktop app and a mobile app. Download it only from the official download page, m5wallet.com/download, and check that the address in your browser is m5wallet.com before you download anything.
The extension works in Google Chrome 111 or later, and in other Chromium browsers that support Manifest V3 extensions.
M5wallet is published on the Chrome Web Store, which is the way to install it:

Open the M5wallet listing on the Chrome Web Store and select Add to Chrome.

Pin M5wallet: select the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then the pin next to M5wallet.
Check the listing is the one published by m5dex.com before you install. Chrome updates a store extension by itself, so there is nothing to do when a new version comes out.
Installing from the ZIP instead
Section titled “Installing from the ZIP instead”The same package is on the download page for sideloading or review. A copy installed this way does not update itself, and Chrome gives it a different extension id from the store build — which means signing in with Google works only for ids we have registered, so prefer the store unless you have a reason not to.

Download the extension ZIP from m5wallet.com/download and extract it to a folder you will keep. Chrome runs the extension from that folder, so don’t move or delete it.

Go to
chrome://extensionsand turn on Developer mode in the top-right corner. -
Select Load unpacked and choose the extracted folder.
To update a sideloaded copy, replace the files in the same folder with the new version, then select the reload icon on M5wallet’s card in chrome://extensions.

Download the build for your Mac: macOS (Apple Silicon) for Macs with an M-series chip, or macOS (Intel).

Open the
.dmgfile and drag M5wallet into Applications. -
The macOS build isn’t notarized yet, so macOS blocks it the first time you open it. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the message about M5wallet, select Open Anyway, and confirm.

Download Linux (AppImage, x86_64).

Make the file executable, for example with
chmod +xfollowed by the file name, or in your file manager’s properties. -
Open the AppImage.

On your phone, download the Android app (Android 7.0 or later) from m5wallet.com/download.

Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow your browser to install unknown apps, then install.
The iPhone app is in beta on TestFlight. Install Apple’s TestFlight app, then open the M5wallet TestFlight invitation on your iPhone.
There is no Windows app yet. On Windows, use the Chrome extension.
Web app
Section titled “Web app”app.m5wallet.com doesn’t hold wallets itself: it connects to a wallet such as the M5wallet browser extension. Install the extension first, including if you want to sign in with Google.
