Install M5wallet

M5wallet runs as a browser extension, a desktop app and a mobile app. Download it only from the official download page, m5wallet.com/download, and check that the address in your browser is m5wallet.com before you download anything.

Chrome extension

The extension works in Google Chrome 111 or later, and in other Chromium browsers that support Manifest V3 extensions.

The Chrome Web Store listing is under review. Until it is published, install the extension manually:

1. Download the extension ZIP from m5wallet.com/download and extract it to a folder you will keep. Chrome runs the extension from that folder, so don’t move or delete it.

2. Go to chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode in the top-right corner.

3. Select Load unpacked and choose the extracted folder.

4. Pin M5wallet: select the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then the pin next to M5wallet.

To update, replace the files in the same folder with the new version, then select the reload icon on M5wallet’s card in chrome://extensions.

Don’t remove the extension to update it

Removing M5wallet from Chrome deletes the wallets stored in it. Back up every wallet before you remove the extension for any reason.

macOS

1. Download the build for your Mac: macOS (Apple Silicon) for Macs with an M-series chip, or macOS (Intel).

2. Open the .dmg file and drag M5wallet into Applications.

3. The macOS build isn’t notarized yet, so macOS blocks it the first time you open it. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the message about M5wallet, select Open Anyway, and confirm.

Linux

1. Download Linux (AppImage, x86_64).

2. Make the file executable, for example with chmod +x followed by the file name, or in your file manager’s properties.

3. Open the AppImage.

Android

1. On your phone, download the Android app (Android 7.0 or later) from m5wallet.com/download.

2. Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow your browser to install unknown apps, then install.

Upgrading from a build installed before 11 September 2026

Current builds are signed with a new key, so Android won’t install them over an older build. You have to uninstall the old app first, and uninstalling deletes its data. Back up every wallet before you uninstall.

iPhone

The iPhone app is in beta on TestFlight. Install Apple’s TestFlight app, then open the M5wallet TestFlight invitation on your iPhone.

There is no Windows app yet. On Windows, use the Chrome extension.

Web app

app.m5wallet.com doesn’t hold wallets itself: it connects to a wallet such as the M5wallet browser extension. Install the extension first, including if you want to sign in with Google.
