Import an existing wallet

Bring in a wallet you already have, from M5wallet or another wallet app, with its recovery phrase or a private key. To restore a Google sign-in wallet, see Restore on a new device.

From a recovery phrase

On the welcome screen, select Add existing wallet, then Import phrase or private key.
Stay on the Recovery phrase tab. Use Select a length to match your phrase: 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 words. 12 is selected by default.
Enter the words in order. You can paste the whole phrase at once and M5wallet fills in every box.
Select Confirm. If a word is wrong, M5wallet shows Invalid phrases; check the spelling and the order.
Set your app passcode if asked. When Your wallet is ready appears, select Enter wallet.

M5wallet stores the phrase on this device, encrypted with your passcode (AES-256-GCM).

From a private key

A private key brings in a single account.

Select Add existing wallet → Import phrase or private key, then open the Private key tab.
Paste the key into Enter your private key, or scan it as a QR code, and select Confirm.
On Select network, choose the network this key belongs to. Some networks also ask for a derivation path or an address type. You can add a name under Name (optional).
Confirm. M5wallet shows Imported successfully and returns to the home screen.

If M5wallet can’t match the key to any network, it asks you to pick one. If the network you pick doesn’t match the key, choose a different one.
